Turn A $1 Target Tote Into A Chic Storage Bin

How To Make A Storage Basket

I'm so excited to share my first exclusive DIY with you! These secret DIYs have been a long time coming, and I'm so excited they are finally here. They came about when I decided I wanted to send a lil' bonus to my email subscribers every week because I appreciate you all so much! So let's get to what you all have been waiting for ... the DIY!

Storage Basket Tutorial

First up is this DIY Storage Bin. Believe it or not, I made it from a Target dollar section tote. Are you as in love with that section as I am? I am obsessed. Remember the DIY Faux Leather Coasters I made from notebooks in the Target dollar section? They are still sitting pretty on my living room coffee table. So back to the tote. I remembered how much you all loved the fabric from my DIY pouf (which has been pinned over 11,000 times ... thank you!), so I decided to use some of the leftover fabric from that project to wrap around the bin.  I suggest you use any fabric you have in the house, and this project will only cost you $1!

With your fabric inside out, pin your fabric around the bin. Cut around your pins leaving about 1/2" of fabric. Sew where your pins were pinned.

Pin + trim an oval piece of fabric onto the bottom of your fabric wrap. This will act as the bottom of your tote. Sew where the pins were pinned.

DIY Kids Room Storage

Remove the handles from the tote by removing the stitch with small scissors. Flip your fabric right side out, and put your tote inside. Fold the top of the fabric under and pin to the tote. Sew the fabric onto the tote. Stitch close to the top of the fabric line. And you're done!
