Our Thanksgiving Tablescape

Our Thanksgiving Tablescape

Thanksgiving tablescape

You guys our Thanksgiving tablescape is set! I had to put it together a couple days early because we are hosting Thanksgiving this year. I repeat WE ARE HOSTING THANKSGIVING! What the heck did we get ourselves into? We also have never roasted a turkey or a ham, and we are doing both. Please send help! So you guys might have seen on Instagram that I completely blacked out at the Hearth & Hand (aka Magnolia) launch at Target. So this Thanksgiving tablescape is full of stuff from Hearth & Hand. I love that their decor collection is neutral enough that it works well for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'll link everything at the bottom of the post. Along with showing you how I decorated our Thanksgiving table, I thought I would share some tips I learned along the way.

Invest in Neutral Linens

Go for neutral linens, so you can use them for both Thanksgiving + Christmas. You can just change up the centerpiece and decor on top, and it will look like a totally different tablescape. I am obsessed with these neutral napkins and this neutral table runner from the Magnolia Hearth & Hand collection at Target.

Keep Your Centerpiece Low

No one likes to constantly have to look around a high centerpiece when you are trying to talk to someone at Thanksgiving dinner. So, opt for a low centerpiece. I prefer something not too extravagant because after all Thanksgiving is all about the food right? So make the yummies the star of the show! This Thanksgiving centerpiece DIY is super easy. Line up your leftover pumpkins from Halloween in an earthy bowl. Shout out to sis for giving me these pumpkins from her amazing Halloween party. Everything she does is absolute magic.

Use a Christmas Garland

A budget-friendly tip for your Thanksgiving tablescape is to use a Christmas garland for your greenery. As long as you mix in some Thanksgiving colors, it looks fall festive. Alternatively, you can gather up some greenery from your yard. And that costs you nothing.

Place Cards Take it Up a Notch

I'm a big believer in place cards for holiday festivities. It totally takes it up a notch from your everyday supper. It doesn't have to be anything more than a card with a name written on it.

Keep Your Table As Is + Go Buffet Style With the Food

Mikes had a great idea when he came home yesterday and saw my Thanksgiving tablescape. He was like, "where are we going to put the turkey?" And then he followed it up with, "let's just do the food buffet style on the island." Problem solved. Don't be afraid to make it easy on yourself and do the food buffet style. That way you don't have to worry about leaving room for the food when you are dreaming up your Thanksgiving table setting.

Make Your Table Feel Cozy + Casual with Textiles

Guests can feel intimated if the table is too stuffy. So warm it up, and make it feel more casual with textiles like fall colored blankets or pillows. Truth be told this is actually a blanket scarf of mine from Zara.

Repurpose Extra Napkin Rings as Tea Light Holders

My next tip is to repurpose items as best as you can. For example, since I use flameless candles (kids), I repurposed leftover napkin rings as tea light votives. The size is perfect, and you know they will match perfectly.

Another budget-friendly idea for your Thanksgiving table setting is to use items you already have around the house like ribbon. Ribbon makes an elegant piece of decor.
