Refrigerator Organization Tips

Do you ever have refrigerator envy? Why do refrigerators on TV and in magazines always look so neat when they are opened up? I'm here to tell you that your refrigerator can look like that too with a few simple steps. I am living proof. My refrigerator really looks like this. So now my secret is out. Hi my name is Kristi, and I love organization and am addicted to containers. There are few things that make me more happy than finding the perfect jar. So I'm revealing my refrigerator organization tips. Plus I'm showing you how I use the yummy Blue Apron goodies in my fridge to make my life a whole lot easier ... oh and a delicious Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Kale Caesar Salad and Toasted Hazelnuts dinner. Make sure to read to the end of the post because Blue Apron is offering FREE MEALS FOR THE FIRST 50 READERS!!

1. Use Glass Containers

Take the time to put almost everything in glass containers. Glass containers will make the items in your refrigerator look more uniform and neat. Plus glass containers make your food look more appetizing. They also allow you to clearly see what is inside, so you don't have to do anymore guessing. With glass containers, you don't have to worry about BPA like you might have to with some plastic containers.

2. Place Produce And Leftovers In Plain Sight

We tend to want to eat what we see. This is why it's best to place produce and healthy items in plain sight. If you want your leftovers to get eaten, you might also want to store your leftovers in front.

3. Put Milk On The Back Shelves Rather Than On The Doors.

Although the doors on your fridge seem to be made for gallons of milk, this is not generally the best place to store it. The doors tend to be warmer than the main part of your refrigerator, and since milk can spoil it's best to keep it really cold.

4. Get A Cute Egg Crate

This tip is a lil' less useful, but who doesn't think an egg crate looks adorable in your refrigerator. It is also a great way to avoid cracked eggs.

5. Purchase Some Useful Containers

I think it's important to invest in some useful containers. These salad dressing containers are a perfect example. With one press of the lever, your dress is mixed up and ready to pour.

6. Put Store-Bought Goods In Glass Containers

I love this tip. Putting store bought goods like pickles and preserves will make your guests think they are homemade. My mother in-law asked me the other day if I made the pickles in my refrigerator!

7. Store Your Blue Apron Goodies In One Big Glass Container For Easy Access

After my Blue Apron goodies arrived, I placed them all in one big glass container for easy access. I didn't want the ingredients to get mixed up with the other food in my fridge.

8. Buy Only What You Can Eat For The Week

I think this is the most important tip of all. Buy only what you can eat for the week. This will keep the food in your refrigerator from piling up and causing chaos. When M and I started making a menu and list for the week, we had so much less wasted food.
